I’m going to confess something. Phrases like “seeing into being” and reference to “the universe” still make me a little uncomfortable. And I only have to start talking about “energy” with my family for the eye-rolling to begin or blank looks to appear.
And then I read Rhonda Byrne’s The Secret (which I understand is about to have a resurgence with the release of a new film starring Katie Holmes and Josh Lucas.)
Actually I made myself read it. I put aside all my cynicism and discomfort with some of the language and style of writing, and focused on the heart of what I read.
I’m so glad I did because there is much wisdom captured in those pages.
What did I learn? It's pretty straightforward. Let me summarise some key points that might prove useful to share...
The Secret is the law of attraction.
The law of attraction simply gives you whatever you are thinking about – whether those thoughts are conscious or unconscious.
It is always working, whether you believe it or understand it or not.
The law of attraction doesn’t care whether you perceive something to be good or bad, don't want it or do.
Most of us attract by default. We just think we don’t have any control over it. Our thoughts and feelings are on autopilot, and so everything is brought to us by default.
Your feelings tell you very quickly what you’re thinking.
If you are feeling bad, it’s because you are thinking thoughts that are making you feel bad.
If you are complaining, the law of attraction will powerfully bring into your life more situations for you to complain about.
An affirmative thought is hundreds of times more powerful that a negative thought.
When you celebrate the good feelings, you’ll draw more good feelings to you – and things that make you feel good.
You have the power to change anything because you are the one who chooses your thoughts and you are the one who feels your feelings.
Whatever thought has done in your life, it can be undone through a shift in your awareness.
Decide on what you want to be, do, and have. Think the thoughts, emit the frequency and your vision will become your life.
See what I mean? Definitely some food for thought there.
But then how to use the law of attraction? Again, it's pretty straightforward according to Rhonda...
Step 1 - Ask
You get to choose what you want, but you must get clear about what it is. This is your work. If you’re not clear, then the law of attraction cannot bring you what you want.
So, make a command to the universe. Let the universe know what you want. The universe responds to your thoughts.
Just ask once. Simply get clear about what you want. As you get it clear in your mind, you have asked.
Step 2 - Believe
Most of us have never allowed ourselves to want what we truly want because we can’t see how it’s going to manifest.
How it will happen, how the universe will bring it to you, is not your concern or job. Allow the universe to do it for you.
Believe that it’s already yours. Have unshakable faith. Believe in the unseen.
Claim the things you want by feeling and believing they are yours. When you do that, the law of attraction will powerfully move all circumstances, people and events for you to receive.
Step 3 - Receive
Turn your fantasy into a fact. Feel it as though you have received it.
When you feel as if you have it now, and the feeling is so real that it is like you have it already, you are believing you have received and you will receive.
If you are in action to try and make it happen, you have slipped backwards.
Trust that the next few steps of your vision will unfold – your life will just keep unfolding. And it will eventually get you to the destination of whatever it is you truly want because you want it.
Simples! So have a go and see what happens. I have...... (Thank you universe..... ;))
